Widnes Vikings have launched a text messaging service to keep their supporters
up-to-date with the latest news from The Halton Stadium.
The Vikings have followed the lead of their Cheshire
rivals Warrington in making the service available, which will give team
news, transfer information and the latest club happenings as well as scoreflashes,
half time and full time updates from home and away matches.
To sign up for "Vikings Text", text the words 'VIKINGS
ON' and send it to the mobile number 82540.
"As a club Widnes places great store in keeping fans
bang up to date with news," said media manager Andrew Kirchin. "The club
has gained a reputation throughout the game for the way we disseminate
information amongst our supporters.
"We are the first and only club to produce a 16-page
monthly newspaper, which is packed with interviews and information that
it is vital for the true fan to have. Vikings Text is the next step forward
in our evolution as a club."
Alerts cost no more than 25p and you can unsubscribe
at any time by texting 'VIKINGS OFF' to 82540.
