EMAP Sign-up to MPP's txt-a-song to sell Music Downloads from TV
EMAP Performance Television has signed up with MPP Global Solutions to be the first TV Company to sell digital music downloads off-screen to its viewers. From its seven music TV channels, txt-a-song, which uses text messaging to engage viewers, will enable EMAP to compliment their music productions with the sale of digital music downloads and drive new revenue streams.
Txt-a-song 'seizes the moment' when music fans first see a video or hear a single, making impulse purchasing possible at the moment when fans are most likely to respond. Ordering couldn't be simpler, with the consumer simply texting a keyword to a mobile shortcode. Fulfilment is immediate, with consumers receiving a real-time text response enabling them to download the song immediately to their mobile phone, or providing instructions on how to receive and download the music from the channel's websites.
Scott Monks, EMAP Performance Television's Director of Interactive, said: "Our viewers are used to seeing exciting new developments first on our channels. This is an extremely convenient new service, which allows our viewers to purchase their favourite track when they first hear it without having to leave the comfort of their sofa."
EMAP is planning to launch the service in April on all seven of their digital music TV channels, including KISS, The Hits, Smash Hits! And Kerrang! With over 500,000 tracks available and a simple call to action using Reverse Billing SMS to sell music downloads as singles the service should prove popular with viewers.
Paul Johnson, MD at MPP says: "We are naturally delighted to be working with one of the UK's leading Media companies. With such a broad reach, we will enable music fans everywhere to have the convenience to simply purchase music downloads. MPP is looking forward to the solution going live and enjoy a successful partnership with EMAP in the future."
