Micropayments
The MPP micropayment solution provides
you and your customers with a completely re-branded eWallet,
which also includes a 'service credit' micropayment system where the
customer can purchase Service Credits in advance and redeem them in exchange for your products and services. Such products may include access to audio or video footage, pdf
documents, reports, access to VIP areas of websites, premium content
SMS messages, mobile colour screensavers, polyphonics, etc. The process is very similar to that of a pay-as-you-go mobile phone.
The following micropayment mechanisms can be used to
credit the eWallet with Service Credits:
- Creditor Debit
Card
- PayPal
- Premium
Rate Services
- Reverse
Bill SMS
Micropayments provide a revenue stream to websites, and
yet don't interfere with the freedom of linking and navigation. The MPP
micropayment system operates invisibly and simply accumulates charges
on the user's account without an explicit confirmation for every click,
download or purchase. That's exactly how electricity bills and long-distance
telephone bills work.
Everyone knows it costs money to use the phone and turn
on a light, but if you want to talk to somebody, you pick up the phone.
And if the room is too dark, you switch on the light. Your web visitors
don't go out to the meter every few minutes to check on your electricity
bill. The same is true on the internet; micropayments are so small that
they do not need a user interface. They just happen. One Service Credit
here, Service Credit there. At the end of the month, a customer might
pay £20 / $20 / €20, but they received a combination of articles,
video clips, 200 SMS alerts, video & audio clip, ringtones, etc. for
their money.
The MPP engine can deliver micropayments
ranging from 1 Service Credit to 1000 Service Credits, and macropayments
of any amount using the other features in the eWallet.
What is a Service Credit?
Service Credits are purchased, using one of the methods
described above, and it is this unit of 'web' currency, that is exchanged
for products and services on web, mobile or via the red button.
