Digital Downloads
Digital downloads are being used in greater quantities than ever to market and deliver music and video. As such, associated content producers, distributors and retailers, in ever increasing numbers, are tapping into the potential of commercialising their content digitally. From individual musicians, through to multi-national television corporations, all areas of the music and video industries are taking steps to deliver content via digital downloads.
The rise in the popularity of digital downloads has increased the scope of this new delivery stream. It is now possible to find downloadable audio books, travel guides and individual images that are available to purchase online or via mobile phone.
iShop
MPP’s leading eCommerce and mCommerce solution, iShop, has been used for years in a variety of industries to host, commercialise and deliver digital content via both web and mobile platforms. It provides an extremely powerful method of selling content and is currently being used by companies such as BSkyB, ITV, EMAP and Universal to provide a first-class digital downloads facility to their customers.
iShop has taken modules from MPP’s well established eCommerce and macro/micropayment products and combines them to create the ultimate ‘one click’ eWallet. MPP will deliver a music or video download to the consumer’s desktop, a ringtone / game / wallpaper to a mobile phone, a digitized video clip to the fan’s email inbox, subscribe the consumer to an online premium content service and can also enable delivery of merchandise, such as a CD, through a letterbox all from one transaction.
Furthermore, iShop provides the total solution using its digital store platform, from front-end, content management, payment, delivery and customer data with delivery and rights management where required. This enables our clients to create, manage and launch their entire digital store using MPP's iShop solution.
Digital Rights Management
Whether the product is a music track or a complete high-definition movie, rights holders are often concerned with ensuring that the content is not illegally transferred between locations. To avoid this infringement, it is possible to apply digital rights management to each file. This has the ability to lock the file to the purchasers’ computer or mobile phone, and can even have a time limit applied to its validity. This opens up the possibility of offering the customer the option to rent the content.
